TRINITY: GOD IS THREE IN ONE
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 1:35; John 5:21-23; 14:10, 16; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8-10; James 2:19)
THE FATHER: GOD IS GOOD
God is amazing. He is holy: very other and different from anyone and anything else... period. He is ever-knowing; He is ever-present; He is ever-powerful. God is the reason you live and move, and have your being. He is Creator of everything you know and those things you have yet to know. And He is good.
(Genesis 1:1; Psalm 99:5; 107:1; 139:7-12; 147:5; John 3:16; Luke 18:27; Acts 17:28)
THE SON: GOD BECOMES MAN
Jesus Christ is completely God and completely man. He is God’s only plan for redeeming you from sin and death. Jesus lived a sinless life that qualified Him to be the sacrifice that paid sin’s demand. He was killed on the cross, but overcame death three days later, proclaiming His authority over life and death. Because of Jesus, you can have new life.
(Isaiah 7:14; 53; Matthew 1:18-23; 3:17; 27:45-50, 54; Mark 16:6; John 1:1, 14; 14:6; 17:1-5; Acts 2:38; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 4:15)
THE HOLY SPIRIT: GOD IS ALWAYS THERE
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to you when you put your faith in Jesus Christ. He comforts, guides, convicts the world of sin, and manifests spiritual gifts in you for God’s glory and the benefit of others.
(Genesis 1:2; Joel 2:28-32; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 2:38; 13:2; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Ephesians 1:13-14)
MAN: GOD’S ULTIMATE CREATION
You are the only part of creation that is made in God’s image. It wasn’t until after God made man that He rested from His creative work. You are created to be in a perfect relationship with God and He continues to create each person uniquely, blessing you with personality, honor and respect.
(Genesis 1:26-31; 2:7; 5:1-2; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 32:38; Mark 10:6; James 3:9; Revelation 21:3)
REDEMPTION: GOD’S ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM
Man broke his perfect relationship with God through sin. Since every sin leads to death, humanity traded away its blessing for a curse. Because of God’s great grace, He sent His only Son, Jesus, to shed His blood on a cross for the forgiveness of sin and our redemption. Redemption comes when you place your faith and life in Jesus and are born again. This redemption is a gift from God that can only be received, never earned by what you do.
(Genesis 3; Isaiah 53:5-6; Mark 8:34; John 3:16; 5:24; Acts 2:37-39; 4:10-12; Romans 3:22-26; 5:18-19; 6:4, 23; 10:9-10; 2 Corinthians 5:17-19; Galatians 3:13-14; Revelation 21:5)
BIBLE: GOD’S STORY WRITTEN DOWN
The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth in all things necessary to your salvation and is completely relevant to your daily life. The final authority for the Church is the Holy Spirit speaking in the Bible.
(Psalm 19:7; 119:1-2, 9, 105; Isaiah 40:8; Luke 1:1-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Ephesians 6:17; Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:10-12; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
CHURCH: GOD’S FAMILY ON MISSION
The Church is the local/global community of reborn and baptized Christ followers living under the authority of Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the result of making disciples in the world. The Church serves, encourages, and challenges Christ followers into the fullness of Jesus. The ultimate purpose of the Church is to glorify Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 16:18; 18:19-20; 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-47; 4:31-35; 5:11-14; 14:23; 16:4-5; 18:24-26; Romans 12:4-8; 16:5; 12; Ephesians 4:11-13; 5:22-33; Colossians 1:18; Revelation 21:2-3)
BAPTISM & COMMUNION: GOD’S CONFIRMATIONS
God confirms his love and grace through the privilege of baptism and communion for disciples of Jesus Christ. Baptism is the water immersion of disciples, declaring their faith in Jesus, God’s renewing grace in their lives, and the constant reminder of their commitment to Him. Communion is the powerful and real celebration of God’s plan for Jesus to redeem humanity through His death and resurrection, gifting disciples with the Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 3:6,11,13-17; 26:20-30; 28:19-20; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:14-23; John 3:5; Acts 2:41-42; 8:12-13,35-38; 9:17-18; 10:45-48; 16:13-15,30-33; 18:7-8; 19:4-5; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:12)
ETERNITY: GOD LETS ME CHOOSE
You were created to exist forever. You will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
(Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16; 5:28-29; 14:2-3; Romans 6:23; 1 John 2:25; 5:11-13; Romans 20:15)
